Questions people ask

Questions people actually ask

Group size, fitness, food, wifi, alcohol, swimming and the drive from the airport — the questions people actually ask before booking.

01

Is this a yoga retreat?

No. The daily practice is Qigong: breathing and slow movement, taught as a course across the five mornings. There is no doctrine attached to it, and no experience is needed.

02

How big is the group?

Six to ten guests. Small enough that dinner stays one conversation, large enough that the morning practice feels like a group.

03

Can I come alone?

Yes. Rooms are private, and the mornings and evenings are shared, so coming alone works well.

04

Do I need to be fit?

No. The walking is moderate and the Qigong is slow. If you can walk for two hours, you can do the whole programme.

05

What is the certificate for?

It confirms that you completed the five-morning course. Useful if you keep practising afterwards; taking it is not compulsory.

06

What if I do not want acupuncture?

Everything in the spa programme is optional. Nothing is compulsory.

07

Is alcohol allowed?

Yes, in moderation. Wine at dinner is normal, and the mornings simply work better without much of it.

08

Is there wifi, and can I work from there?

Yes, there is wifi across the villa and it handles calls. Working is possible, though most guests stop after the first day.

09

Is it safe to swim?

Yes, with care. The beach has surf and currents, so we show you where and when to go in; the pool is always there too.

10

Can you handle dietary restrictions?

Yes. Menus are agreed with the group before arrival.

11

What languages do you host in?

English, Spanish and Russian.

12

How long is the drive from the airport?

About ninety minutes from San Jose by road. No domestic flight, and we drive you both ways.
